Its not nessesarily impossible to get the S5 in your car, but IMO you'd be better off saving another little bit and buying a standalone, like a microtech. Unless you have a donor TII car anyhow, you're going to be spending almost the same amount just hunting down all the sensors -- then there's the nightmare of wiring you'd have to do -- then the PITA job of fooling the ecu into thinking the electronic OMP is still working.

Basically, here are your options:
1) S4 engine, S4 ecu, stock sensors, use OMP or premix
2) S5 engine, S5 ecu, stock sensors, fool ecu into thinking the OMP is still working, while running premix
3)either S4 or S5 engine, standalone EMS, premix or mechanical OMP

I went through the same debate in my head. My planned budget was $3k US. Unfortunately, and fortunately, I hate doing a half fast hack job. Standalone just makes too much sense when installing a foreign engine into your car. Maybe you shouldn't be listening to me after all, I blew my budget by a long shot ,but I'sure it'll be all worth it, when I can get this sucker tuned .

I think i'll go with solution #1 since it's the less expensive one. I'm young, i have all my time, so in life, we have to make limits and start somewhere. Thanks alot fatboy for your answer, it makes sense to me.

I'll run premix, and use S4 engine... and when the turbo will need to get a replacement, i'll get a S5 turbo or aftermarket one with a standalone.

Everthing you need is going to be in the FSM for your 83, and the one from the engine's model year. You can probably get away with a Chilton or a Haynes ones on the engine at least. The electrical component locator is likely to be missing, but the wiring diagrams will be there.

the fuel lines don't need to be changed? right ?

and second question, is it easy to fit a FD fuel pump in it cause i found one?

And, i read about the surge tank, do i absolutely need one. If so, how much it is worth ?

Thanks

sorry if i ask a lot of question, but i want to learn and to do this project properly.

There is no way i can put a S5 engine without modifying my 12A cover ? I cannot do like the S4 engine and just run premix. What is happening when the ecu is in LIMP mode ?

I don't understand why you don't use a blowthrough weber carb. It would make more power than the stock ECU and you would not have to worry about wiring.

wankel- fuel lines don't need to be changed if you use a surge tank.
FD pump won't work unless you mount it in the tank.
Surge tanks are nice for cars that are using stock tanks/small lines.
I'm not sure how the "limp home" mode works but if you wanted to do it correct the first time you'd forget about using the stock ECU and get a aftermarket.

Ok, how much is the cheaper aftermarket ECU ?

When you put an aftermarket ecu, does it needs a lot of tuning? and does it has lot of wiring stuff to connect?
