Troubles...
Ok, well Ive got an 85 gsl with a 12a, I blew the original motor but ended up finding an 83 engine last year and that went in. It ran fine since but I noticed the accelerator pump was leaking gas and the intake gasket was crap so 2 days ago I decided to replace the intake gasket and O rings, and also swap over to the 85 carb..so I put everything back together and everything was fine, until today it starts making a really unusual screeching noise sometimes on deceleration, I figured it might be a vacuum leak or something but I cant see anything wrong, and I retorqued all the manifold bolts and carb bolts too, and Its still making the noise. The noise almost sounds like the buzzer when you open the door with the key in. It seems very weird since it goes away at idle, and my idle seems normal, also no power loss..I dont even know what to try next, or if I should be driving it like that. Any help would be awesome!
Oh yah, and with all the emmissions stuff removed do I only need to plug in the 3 connectors that the 83 carb had or is there something I dont have plugged in that could cause this?

try replacing your belts. i just swapped my 84 GS 12a with a 12a that came out of an 81. so when i rev it up i dont hear anything but when it comes down i hear a screeching noise. i havent changed them yet so i plan on doing that anyways. and the carb im running is from my old 84 12a. so i kinda did the samething as you i guess. just check the belts.

All I want to know is if I need all 3 connectors that are attached to the carb right now. The emissions are long gone but I Just want to get all the wires I possibly can out of the equation, right now there is one connector on the passanger side and 2 on the front and/or drivers side.
