Was in the process of moving. Had to get out of my house within three days. Got the running car on a trailer and this one on a dolly, Dahhh!. Got about halfway to the new house fell snapp and slight jerk on the truck. Got home and realize how dome a moment I had... Got an SE rear end laying around???

In the oldene dayes when I was hauling race cars around, sometimes on a dolly, we would either put the back on the dolly and haul it backwards, or disconnect the driveshaft. Why? Because someone blew his transmission once and discovered that the transmission only pumped gearlube around properly when the input shaft was rotating the correct direction. YMMV.

expensive
I have pulled provably about a hundred cars always aware of the effects of pulling. Long distance I have always disconect the drive shaft because of the effect to the tranny, mainly auto trannies. But have been aware of the damage. For short distances, which is what this towed was all about, (32 miles), i just placed the car on the dolly and got it where it needed to go. In this case it was more of a brain anomaly, dumbass sysndrome!

You should have at least dumped some motor oil in there. Motor oil won't do the job with the engine powering the car, but would have saved that rearend from dying a painful death.
As for disconnecting the driveshaft, I always advise that to be done, as I have seen a trans get messed up towing less than 5 miles.

I just towed my 85se ~150 miles and opted for the full trailer method. Mine doesn't run (see my threads about the Oil Cooler fiasco) and hasn't been driven in years so I bought a $20 manual winch and hand-drove her on to the trailer. Too many threads about disconnecting the drive shafter works sometimes and others "the above" happens. I'm pretty new to working on cars but isn't your damage relatively easy to fix assuming you can find those parts?
