Too Cheap To Buy Clear lenses?

I Love the clear lens cover look on our 7s, the Orange lenses just look really old, and boring. I went to home depot and picked up a sheet of "Acrylic Lighting Panel - Prismatic Clear." Its basically the covers for florescent Lights. I used a dremel tool to cut rectangles matching the size of the original lenses. and I layered 3 pieces for each lenses to give a more opaque, and white color. and i used the dremel to cut the holes in the ends for the screws becasue a normal drill will crack the acrylic. The finished product looks very good in my opinion, and for 5 dollars you can't go wrong. I'll try and borrow my friends digital camera and post some pics. The Acrylic panels are great because they are pretty strong, very flexable, and the prismatic texture gives the impression of aftermarket lenses. The only problem I see is that for use on side marker lenses there is no reflector. For best results cut the lenses exactly to size and try to produce a very straight cut. High speed rotary tools are best for this because they wont splinter the sheets.

www.rotaryrx7.com sells them, but I think it's out of stock right now.

Did you do this for the orange turn signal lenses on the front of the car that are round, or the flat ones on the side of the car? I'm guessing from the procedure you described you did the ones on the sides? I'd think you'd have to form the round ones on the front with a heat gun or something? Either way, I definitely wanna see some pics!

the flat ones on the side of the fenders dont blink on mine, they are just parking lights... So its the corner blinkers I guess... I've always though of cheap ways to do those, but I never though about that!!!

Thanks!!!!

I did the front round ones, this stuff is very flexable. I just have to get some ultra white bulbs now, they look great at night too
