Tires Arrived! Pictures, Thanks for suggestions!

Hey guys,
after I posted a thread a while ago asking what rims and tires I should run on my widebody RX7 some of you guys pointed me in the direction of the tires at the tire rack. So today my order arrived! Sumitomo 315/35Z17 for the rear and 275/45Z17's for the front! Thanks a ton for pointing me in the direction of these tires, they look like a awesome deal for the price, tirerack.com is awesome!!!

Heres some pictures showing the comparison to the tire I was running before 205mm width to show you how big these monsters actually are!!!

Coming soon is going to be some black face with chrome lip CCwheel's, 17x12 for the rear and 17x10 up front! Should be awesome, I just can't afford them right now so im saving up!!!!

Can't wait!!!
Thanks again

I think these suckers should fill the fenders up VERY well, I just need to be careful with the offset of the rims when I order them...

And I DEFFINATELY need to do something about the lack of powersteering with 275's up front and a small 320mm momo steering wheel, suggestions?

Thanks!

Haha not yet, this is my first project car. And well a long story short, this widebody is a seperate option rather then painting my old car... (more bang for my buck) But my plans are to build up a 400RWHP TII large streetport motor, FMIC, T3-T4 turbo, standalone, and all the goodies that come along with these mods...

I am starting as a mechanic in 4 months, my first career job (finishing school off now), so then I will be making REAL money. For the last 3 years I have been working at a grocery store to make enough RX7 money to get my mods done... But I plan on going crazy for the first while with being 18 years old making actual money with little expenses. What better time to do a project like this?

Im having all sorts of fun doing this project, and im gonna have a REALLY cool unique car when im done. What more could I ask for? All sorts of goodies are being dropped into this widebody though. Its just going to take some time to get everything completed. I plan on building the TII this fall/winter, and hopefully this monster is going to be tearing up the streets the summer of 07. My goal for this car is to have a high HP, track car, that is also streetable and street legal, and I wouldn't mind putting it in a car show or two once its done.

And as far as getting the Wheels first then tires, when I saw these tires for such a cheap price I couldn't resist, especially when the status of them is LOW STOCK. I had the money in the bank so I figured why not...

If you want 400 hp, skip the t3/t-4. Spend sone time in the 2nd gen section and see what they are using.

With those tires, you'll need 4.56 or shorter gears to get the speedo back in line.

Just tell them you want the stock 5 1/2" backspacing in ther rear. I went with 4 1/2 and now when I drop it, it's going to rub. I plan on fixing this with a Ford rear and making it 1" shorter on each side. This way the wheels can tuck into the wheel well when I slam it to the ground. "See photochop"

Z-beater: The wheels cost around $450 each. Great price for a 3pc wheel.

so do you think with a 5 1/2" backspacing there will be little to no rubbing? Remember im using the RB springs all around... Kinda one thing im worried about, and here is another teaser pic (note that the tire is just sitting next to the stock GSL-SE rim/tire.

Thanks for the information. I agree not bad for 3 piece rims with a lip and width.

Their should be no rubbing at all even with RB springs. I have like 4" gap between my wheels and springs.

My friends wheels are 15x13

Hey, I live in Sherwood Park. Haha the car has a long ways to go but im making progress! I am going to do my apprentice hours at Sherwood Park Mazda, I already did my practical portion of my mechanics class there and it seems to be a good place to work.

And to answer the other questions, yes I am going to the extreme when it comes to rubber and rims, because there is nothing worse then a widebody that isn't finished properly riding around on 15x7's... Widebody cars NEED to have huge rubber and rims or else whats the point? And thanks a million luiml73, its awesome to see pictures answering my question perfectly!

On a side note, my friend thinks his Civic EG hatch (he is doing a B20 swap) making 300 fwhp will be able to take on and beat my widebody with 400 RWHP (TII motor, standalone, FMIC, t3-t4 turbo, 3" exhaust, etc etc) hp. Both cars boosted, I think he won't have the traction (I think he has like 195's up front or something) to keep up at all, plus we all know FWD < RWD. I think ill be able to take him, it'll be fun when both of our cars are done, we can go to the local drag strip and see how the cars actually compare.

I agree those are some nice pictures. You will stomp all over the civic if he is putting 300 down.
