Congratulations on your first car and welcome to rotary land. There's lots to be learned and this place is a great start. I'm still learning and I've had the car a long time, it was my first.
If you want 300 hp and the suspension to be able to drive it, I'd start by getting a summer job. Mowing lawns, working in the fields, what ever you have to do and put it in an interest bearing CD account. Then when you are 16 you might have enought to start your project. Then go to a driving school, a real driving school (not the one to get your license) like proformance or one that your local bmw/porsche/alfa or audi clubs put on so you can learn how to handle all that power without wrecking the car or putting yourself or someone else's life in danger.
For the turbo project you could swap in a 13b turbo and upgrade your turbo and engine management, there's lots of info here about this.
You will want upgraded suspension. Re-speed has put together some great products including a 5 lug conversion kit which will help you get some rubber in the back so you can handle all the horsepower. These cars are light and a little hp goes a long way.
For reclineable seats - look for some third gen ones - that's what we have and they work pretty well. Best of luck to you.
BTW - you have great writing skills - it's quite refreshing for someone your age.

Good luck dave....
First off research all the area's of rust on the rx7's there is alot written about that, inspect your car to see if it's worth getting a body kit. If your car checks out then it's time to start working on your motor.
12a turbo kits are hard to find... look for cartech on ebay they made a kit for your car. They are around form time to time, but you can build yourself a better kit on your own.... more money though.
next get that spray paint off your car!! start getting it decent and you'll love this car!
you have a 79, that is awesome....

Dave,
Coming from someone who started out on rotaries by wanting to mod them, keep it stock. You have one of the few 7s that will really appreciate. There aren't nearly as many SAs as FBs, or even GSL-SE (I think).
Clean this one up. Make it one of the few really nice stock SAs. Then, if your desires for speed are not quenched by the beauty of the stock SA, sell it. Go out and buy yourself an FB with a shot motor or a beat up GSLSE. Mod the everloving **** out of it. Let that one have 300hp. By then, you MAY be able to handle 300hp. I was 25 when I got my first 7. After driving the run of the mill transportation boxes, I was unprepared for what 108hp could do. Any Moderator or 30+ person on this forum will tell you that 108hp and four wheels have never been so fun.
Will someone close to this kid with a stock 7 take him for spin? Show him that he doesn't need racing seats and 300hp to enjoy this magnificant feat of automotive engineering. For his sake and the sake of a 79 SA, PLEASE.
Sorry, thats my rant.
PS. If you get that SA running and in mechanically decent condiditon, I'll trade you my modded 83.

Welcome to the world that is NOT the Fast and Furious. If that's what you're looking for, find a different car and supporting forum.
Since school is out, I suggest you begin your own summer reading program and read everything you can on the forum. From your questions, it's obvious that you've read very little here. We're here to help, but you need to help yourself first and you've just stepped into a very anti-rice forum.
That said, enjoy reading. In my sig line are some links for further reading, including the FSMs, carb manual, rotary engine history, etc..

i started out when i was 14 with an 87 rx. I knew notting about rotary and the fun you can have. I sold it due to a blown motor i did not know about. (like i said knew notting) me and my dad talked about his dream cars when he was a kid. He mentioned the GSL SE. First time i saw one i just turend 16 and i bought it. i have had it for a year now. Its totaled off needeing both the mechanical and the structural safty. LOOK for rust before you start. be prepared to sit in the garage for many long hours. o and btw BIN RUST is the worst thing you can have i spent 600 dollars along just getting that repaired. i payed 1356$ for the car with my own money, so i am jelious of you. Welcome to the fourm...start reading there is something like 500 pages under the first gen section of written material by these guys. read them all
good luck with the project. And remember when it gets to be more work then you thought dont quit. it is the best expericance of anyones life!

Welcome to the forum Dave. You will find an abundance of information about pretty much anything you need to know about your FB.
This being said. I would not recommend a 300hp, 2400lb car to many people, let alone a person with little to no driving experience. It's important to not let your dreams and idea's over run reality. Not just the reality of your financial capabilites but also your skills as a driver. In time, both of these aspects of your life will grow more capable.
I know that everyone likes to think of themselves as a good driver. The reality is that many of us are average and most are below. It's not because we have no skills, it's because we were never taught the proper way to use them. I don't think I would recomend an Rx7 as a 1st car for anyone.
Since you have the car and obviosly love it. I would recommend overall maintenance for reliability, and some light mods. As said before, brakes and suspension is a great place to start. Dreams of being the fastest car in town will likely make you broke and dead.
I wish you the best. After searching and can't find the info you need, don't hesitate to ask.
Good luck
