Question for those with more experience

Hey guys,
1)Could any one estimate how much power a 13b (from a TII) with stock ports, 2 1/4 inch exaust from headers back and a properly tuned nikki carb would make at the fly wheel?

2)What sort of difference would I notice with a lighter flywheel? Is it worth the money?

3) What would be a good mod to get some more HP (without porting or forced induction)?

Thanks Heaps!

1) A stock TII engine has lower engine compression which is designed to be boosted... so I dont think it would make much power with a Nikki carb...do I hear 120 maybe??.. how about even 90..less???
2) A lightened flywheel will allow the engine to accelerate/gain RPMs quicker.. if you roadrace or autocross alot its probably worth it.
3) A Big and well tuned carb with Nitrous Oxide ..not really forced is it

Running a 4 port 13b is no problem BUT Im guessing yoru not running the Turbo set up ,MEANING I hope your running high compression rotors,I prefer S5 Rotors.

Putting a Nikki carb on it would just be hurting you Either run 2 Weber 51 it would be nice..It might be a little big for the STOCK ports but at lease when you rebuild you will have what you need,OR if you like the Holley set up its easy to add on and maintain, and alot cheaper than a Weber set up.

The lighter flywheel will help you rev alot faster, so more faster pick up ..Pending on how high RPMs you paln on runnign I would go with a scatter sheild..I personally dont trust aluminum flywheels at high RPMs,hey are good for street and AutoX BUT in Drag I like the stock flywheel cause you can bang on it harder..

ONLY way to get more HP with out porting or forced induction would be N20 you can get nice gains from exhast,BUT for more noiticeable set up would be nitrous,
Im not sure how they run N20 on a Weber set up BUT I Know for Holley you can get a wet system with the plate under the carb ..easy and simple.

Does having a lightened flywheel make much difference to the acceleration time of the car?

I would think it would make a difference on a 12a first gen. On a huge car that has enough torque already the rotational weight probably wouldnt be noticed in power as much as how easily the engine revs, but in a car thats trump card is light weight with a low power engine, freeing up all that rotational weight is probably going to be noticable.

Don't the stock flywheels weigh something like 21 pounds? I know racing beat offers a 16 pound flywheel that has something like a 50% decrease in rotational inertia.

But if you go too hard on the lightened flywheel, you lose torque because the car drops out of the powerband too quickly. The guys that entered a 4rotor in last years LeMans actually made their flywheel lighter so that they could use the torque they had better.

Just a thought.
