testing ignitors

I just pulled a distributor from a 7 in the junkyard. How do I test the ignitors without actually putting them in my own distributor and running the car?

Theres a diagram how to make a homemade tester with a light bulb and a switch in the Haynes manual I think?

Correct. You just a need a 12V bulb, a switch and some wire.
