taking off the thermal reactor
I got my new RB exhaust system and now im wondering what you guys do to get the thermal reactor off. Its hard to get a wrench or socket in. Who designed this lunker!

There's no easy trick that I'm aware of, just have to work at it with an open-end wrench. Swearing seems to help me. Good luck with it! Oh, by the way, what year is it, and which RB header are you using? -WG

Exhaust components tend to sort of 'weld' themselves into place, especially up near the engine where they're the hottest.
A lot of liquid wrench, elbow grease, blood, sweat, and tears helps lube them up.
Tips:
-Don't use a socket when breaking torque; it just breaks the rachet.
-See if you can get a box end wrench in there, instead of an open wrench.
-If you use a wrench, try to push the wrench to loosen the bolt rather than pulling towards you. This way you can push with an open hand, and if you slip you just end up slapping part of your car as opposed to stabbing the knuckles of a fist with a forward slip on something or slashing the meat of your lower thumb or wrists with a back slip...

I went all out and baught the RB street port exhaust system if anyone cares. Hope it sounds as nice as people tell me. I figured buying this street port system would inspire me to actaully do a street port.

Easiest way without the Special Tool is to remove the intake manifold first.
I was able to yank mine with the intake manifold on, but the engine was out of the car, I used many different tools (crow's foot, several different offset box wrenches, a 15mm swivel, a healthy supply of expletives, half a pack of smokes) and it took about an hour or two. Wouldn't dream of trying that with the engine in the car due to some of the angles I was working at
