Tach not working

I not so recently bought a 83 rx7 that runs well, only problem is my tach just doesn't work I know it probably has something to do with the msd 6a ignition system that came with but I'm lost even after doing some digging so please any help would be appreciated please and thank you

The tach gets it's signal from the coil. How is yours wired up?

I think it has two ignition coils I've read that I have to connect it to my trailing coil the thing is I have no idea how to do that

Look in the factory wiring diagram. They can be found here: Foxed.ca

What have you done to verify the tach wire is connected to the trailing coil?

It could be your voltage rectifier. If its an early model, the car has a generator and rectifier instead of an alternator. If the rectifier doesn't work it could affect the tach function.
Does the voltmeter function of the tach when you first turn it on before you crank the engine?
