Suggestions on a break in period???

Well i have a new motor and its never been driven, its only run maybe like a total of 1-2 hrs and im still working the bugs out but i would like to dirve it a little around the nieghborhood to get the brakes and all fixed and to mess around a little.

i have never owned one of these rotarys so im not sure what a reccomended breakin period is??? what do you guys suggest

its a 12a streetported, 465cfm holley, with rb intake and rb headers and rb full exhaust, no rats nest, 3 core radiator, TT circuit and 2nd gen coil,

just need some ideas thanks robert

well, this is how i did it. no hard driving, stay under 4000 rpm for the first 1000 miles. then gradually increasing the load and rpm for the next 1000-1500 miles, but not quite to redline. i didn't really start driving mine hard til after about 3000 miles, winding thru the first few gears to get an idea how it's going to run. u have the same setup i have but mine's a 13b and 600cfm holley but don't have the 2nd gen stuff tho. the 465cfm is for a stockport engine so why r u using it on a sp, rb sell the 600 for that. is ur exhaust system rb's sp setup, that's what i'm running.

yeah everything on it is rb streetport the intake and headers then i have the hiperf exhaust that collects at the muffler. i read that the 600 was for the bigger ports and for turbos. it seems to be working ok but not driving it yet. i got to get a gauge cluster and time it and adjust the idle first. thanks and if any one else has any thing just let me know. thanks robert

Milage will vary with the grade of rebuild,as 81gsl12a displayed.
New bearings take a long time to break in and most builders choose to reuse old bearings so long as they are in good shape.Conversely, using old rotor housings can delay break in because of the roughness of the running surface.

I kept it under 4K for the first 500 miles, then under 5K until 1000 miles. After 1000 miles, only short bursts to redline were acheived, until 1500 miles, when it was considered fully broken in.This corresponds with RB's break in recommnedations.
My engine already had several hours of run time on a stand at Mazdatrix, after being built so you might wanna extend your break in time a little bit comapred to mine....it all depends on whats new and whats old, with your rebuild.Just dont overheat it,ever....and change your oil frequently at first.

For 1000 miles stay under 5k and under half throttle. Do NOT bog the motor.
