What brand and size sub are you looking for your setup? This is something you might want to post. Everyone listens to a different type of music which sounds better on a smaller or a larger sub. For example.... Rap would sound better on a 10" sub rather than a 12" for the simple reason that the 10" will hit hard rather than hitting deep with the 12". Also you have to take in place on the dimention of the box and its port size that are required for that paticular speaker. My suggestion for you is to look into a powered Bazooka tube which has the amp built in all you have to do is hook up RCA wires and you've got Bass. Plus! less weight in the long run.
Just my 2 cents

thanx.....how is the sound quality of a bazooka sub compared to the normal round 10 inch sub. Im looking to put these in the storage bins because subs can be easily seen and easily stolen with the glass hatch, would this tube sub still be able to be put in a storage bin somehow?

Bazookas???? Those things sound like crap next to a properly designed box system. Stick with a reputable manufacturer, usually they will TELL you how to build the box. For small box systems, I like Kicker as well as anyone. JL Audio too, but they can get kind of pricey.

My recommendation, find a local stereo shop, one with a good reputation, and see what they have to offer. Be prepared 'cause you can drop anywhere from a couple hundred to several thousand on a good system.

Honestly.... one 10" tube will hit nice. I would leave the storage bins for..... Storage. Not many places to put the 5 main tools to repair your car on trips are out messing with the honda kidz. Here are some options for you

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-jLDtVra...&avf=N&search=

The reason I suggest going this way is I have one 8" tube with a Alpine amp put in the storgae bins and it just seems a bit much. Although in my old GS I had a vega 12" sub with the same Alpine 757 pushing it not even half turned up and it would make my ears ring anf my eyes water, along with a headache ;] Now if you wanted to go this rount I would suggest getting the windows tinted with a Mirror tent which will detour people from seeing it. I for one never had a problem. I am selling that setup BTW "Alpine V12 757 amp with a Vega, Vega Series 12" sub in a Q-Logic ported Box"

If you are trying to compare Bazookas to Kickers or JL thats like comparing apples and organes, but looking at a HUGE price difference. But look at the weight you just put in your "Sports Car" just to have a little bass. To have an amplified sub that will hit nice with half the cost he is going to spend on someone making a ported box for those bins. Custom fabbing is very costly unless done yourself. There again.... reason I did suggest on posting on which Brand and size speakers you were looking at mounting.

Weight or no weight...you couldn't give me a Bazooka bass tube, or any other bass tube for that matter. If you're not going to be concerned about good sound quality from your system, why put anything except the stock radio.

As for weight, how much weight do you think you will save with a bass tube? You'll still have the same amount of weight for the deck, the amp(s) and the sub, so the difference will be the weight of the box vs the weight of the tube. My guess, MAYBE 15 or 20 pounds. Not enough to be of any concern to most drivers and there's no comparison between the sound quality.

Just checked your link to Crutchfield...you can do a single 10" Kicker with a 200 watt Alpine for around $250. Build the box yourself and you'll probably hit $300 vs $200 for the bass tube. Not such a HUGE difference....

I used to have a system but I recently removed it. Here are some pics of where my subs were:

If your concerned about weight and having a good sounding system get memphis. light weight compact amps and a good 10" sub in a .75-1 cube box.

Believe it or not, in a previous 1st gen I had eight (yes 8) Becker 12's powered by 1400 watts of Orion power. It took me 3 tries before I got them all to fit. Got hard to breathe at about 1/3 volume...rearview was useless. Cracked the rear hatch side glass twice. Moved on to a Nissan Hardbody Pickup with 8400 watts and 36 subs (8-12") in the bed. Wish I still had all the photos, but the ex burned them all....
