Streetported 12A CFM carb question
Hey guys,
I am running a fairly small medium streetported 12A. I am wondering if a 350 2 barrel carb is going to be enough CFM to feed the engine and give me the power gains of my mods i have. The 12A runs at 340 CFM stock at 100% VE. But at 88% VE is runs 299 CFM. Now does the streetport affect this CFM? If so does anyone know by how much? My street port is more of a flare port. I am running a holly blue fuel pump and reg. Electric fan and air cooler oil cooler. Fully built exhaust. And i am only pushing 109 wheel...... Stock intake. Seems low..... I got a holley 500 on it right now. And i know its part of the problem which is why i am trying to figure out the right carb this time so i don't waste more money. If anyone can help your time is greatly appreciated.

The Holley needs some mods done to them to run on rotaries. They start with the 465 carb and up for modded 12A's or you can get the stock Nikki modified.
"My street port is more of a flare port." What or how is this done? Why not get it streeported if you're going to have it ported anyways? Just curious.

haha ... you're finally coming around to this forum I see ... :P this is Sam(from msn) btw if you don't know my name on here. You should just get a setup like mine with the holley 465 4barrel ... or if you want to spend a little more dough, 48IDA weber carbs ... which might be my next carb anyway, if i don't go fuel injection once I get a blower. Or I could just get fuel injected 48Ida or 51 IDA webers with a blower
.
Back to topic though, can you repost your dyno graph ... I can't remember what your A/F ratios were and and how your torque/hp curves look like.
Also can you post pic of the exhaust porting job. I know that I have all this stuff on my home computer but i'll be here at school for another 12 hours today so can't retrieve it soon.
So i'm guessing you're jealous of my numbers now :P

I have a fully built exhaust with racing beat headers. I have been told why my carb doesn't work the 500. But i am wondering why a OER sidedraft or a weber will work non modified? But the holley 465 has to be modified for a rotary to flow proper.

Got to the 1st gen archives and search for streetport+holley and you will see a thread that explains some of this already. This kind of question comes up so often its been beaten to death.

Just have to go through the info on the forums and the archives and you will learn a whole bunch of other info. Seems like people like using the sidedraft Mikunis for the 12A's as well.

I am going with a Sterling setup on my car. From what i have read it sounds like a good cheap way to fix my problem. And they don't look as bad as i thought it would

I have posted this info before, sorry for the repeat:
I have a 12a, using the RB street port template for the secondaries, only minor porting of the primaries and exhaust ports, a RB header and an RX-4 carb, which is nominal 345 cfm, according to RB. I dynoed 130 hp to the wheels with this setup, peak horsepower at 7,000, compared to 6,000 for stock. This carb was used on RX-4, Cosmo and REPU, runs very smooth hot or cold. Gas mileage about the same as stock.
