Hey Sterling, I need a Weber carb like I need a reworked Nikki. The problem is that parts for non-Holley carbs are outrageously expensive, if you can find them locally.

The way I see it, the carb worked fine on a 460 (7.5l) that idled at 400rpm. It should work juuust fiiine on a 12A (2.3l equivalent) that idles at 1200-1500.

Besides, what about all you people who go mechanical secondaries... what happens when you whack the throttle open at super low RPM? Wham bang all four barrels wide open. And last time I tried it, it works just fine with no problems.

Also figure this - a 750 Holley is basically two 500cfm 2-barrels back to back, with one half operated by venturi vacuum. Peopl run 500cfm 2-barrel Holleys on rotaries all the time, in fact it's oftentimes a spec carb for certain racing series.

It's a function of: I already have the carb, and the secondaries are there *IF* I need the additional airflow. Which i just might.

Don't "whack the throttle open"! (Learn how to drive the engine.)

You'll be putting two gapping holes on your manny for all rpm/ load.
Just like a Weber.
No low end. There's not enough velocity through those big-*** venturis to draw the fuel you'll want for any low end to mid range power.

I'll do a doughnut around you at the light before you get up to rpms.

We shall see. Theorizing only works for theoretical engines, y'know? When i figure out how to make the damn thing clear the water pump, then we'll see how well it works or not.

Man, I'm almost tempted to try rebuilding an old, possibly water damaged, '74 13B carb. I think it's an Hitachi, but it has what looks like a Nikki something or other on it. I'll have to dig it out and dig into the corrosion soon.

In other words, the Edelbrock project scares me a little. That is to say, Schuck's is out of their carb spacers at this time! (I don't want to cut up my nice Holley to Nikki/Hitachi adaptor).
