I put a muffler similar to a raptor on my car (its just a cherry bomb turbo). I use it as a presilencer, for now. Its held up pretty well. I believe it has glass packing, but I'm not sure. The tone and volume of the car hasn't changed since I put it on. It has over a week on it so far. Either it burned up within the first 1-2 min of the first time I started the car with it, or it actually has held up. Don't believe that glasspacks burn up fast. I had a cherry bomb on the car before with 3 weeks use on it (generally the amount of time a glasspack burns up in). I took it off because it wasn't working too well as a presilencer, and cut it open. The packing looked like new still. I had some hard driving on it too.

Stock exhaust manifold. 2.5" piping straight into a $17.99 "Cherry Bomb Turbo II" single inlet, dual outlet muffler. The dual outlets each go to a 3.5" resonator tip through the dual exhaust ports on my rear valence.

At idle, everyone thinks I have a V8 swap.

While driving, everyone is convinced my car is turbo.

My car definately has alot more vacuum sounding WHOOSH, instead of the killer bees/dirtbike sound of the Swedish FB race car.

That's why I used 2.25 into a high quality canister exhaust as in my post earlier, it keeps the rotary sound alive thru all the exhaust components.
I want people to know what a rotary is and know the sound when I'm driving.

hey hey I practically have the killer bee engine lol. And I love it. I don't car what it sounds like. Makes all those losers out there cry and whine when a dirt bike sounding two-stroke engine beats em. But damn my exhaust is loud right now with nothing to resonate the sound. I have no muffler right now lol.

Okay, I thought my exhaust waas fairly loud and I thought I had heard the loudest rotary on the streets already. Damn was I wrong. I was over at a buddies house earlier, he just got his RX2 running. It's got a S4 turboII, streetport with a T4 strapped on to it and the exhaust, 3 inch straight pipe. It is literally one long piece of mandrel bent 3 inch pipe that goes all the way out to the back from the turbo flange. WoW, deafening. IT IS INSANE.

Do any of you guys with straight pipe to muffler have cronic backfiring? I know that when i disconnect my mufller and just have my header and presilencers it sounds like gun shots when the RPMs drop...lol.

I had afterburn on my car with the straight pipes all the time. Not very loud tho, my carb was tuned very well. If I dragged my gears out to about 9k rpm and got off it then i would have a wicked afterburn, or also if I was trying to cruise it at low rpm's like 1800 trying to keep it quiet in cops-ville then to. By the way do you have backfires, those come out through the intake side of a motor. Afterburn is the loud pop and occasional flame you see emitted through an exhaust. What do you have??????????????

Backfires often refer to the afterburns you talk of. Most people talk of backfires from the exhaust.

I had a presilencer and muffler and I had backfires that were quite audible. My car isn't tuned very well though.

Also i had to unclog my cat a month ago...may be its my cat( i really don know much about exhaust sytems so sorry for the studip questions)...if i replace my catalytic converter with something else (other than another cat) will that help? If you have all the original exhaust components on your car then it sounds to me like you have an exhaust leak more likely than anything else. If it's F---ing loud then maybe you have an exhaust leak on the manifold actually at the motor or at one of the flanges from the cats. I was running headers into a stock catalytic convertor then straight piped into a flowmaster on one of my cars a while back. It was loud but not F---ing loud. It did get that loud after one of the gaskets failed on the header to cat connection point. Try passing your hand around the flanges while the engine is running, after just turning on your car from it being cold is easiest since you don't have to worry to much about being burnt. If your going to swap the exhaust for a full custom setup this will at least help you quiet it all down a bit till then. And remember there are no stoopid questions, only stupid people. LoL, just joking.===
