STOP pouring ATF in cars that won't start!!!
#26
I'm actually glad to see that people are re-evaluating the wisdom of the ATF treatment. As I've said MANY times, Amsoil "Power Foam" or Techron are both made specifically for this purpose, and won't damage catalytic converters in the process. Maybe someday some brave soul will actually TRY them, and see the light!

I used Techron last refill, and it seems to have helped smooth out this 85GSL. When I got it, tho it had only 49k, the fluids were all filthy and it idled badly and stumbled around 4k. I started with MMO, which helped a little, and then the Techron added last week seems to have helped, too. Now, it's all smooth, but only occasionally stumbles around 4k. I'll try Techron again next fillup. In a month or two I'll put in the new Bonerz cat and muffler. Then, a header later in the year.

For real though. You gotta diagnose the problem...
I used to have this LONG *** writeup on diagnosing no starts. The only required tools were either a multimeter or a test light. (Test lights are like $5) and one of those Wal*Mart socket sets that's like $20. (Always keep something like that in your car... Comes in way handy.) It was applicable to ANY gasoline engine. I'll retype is when I get home as it was posted long before the 2002 crash.

if you want to clean a rotor... you should soak it in Berryman Chem-Dip overnight. It'll come out shiny. It also does wonders on stuck gaskets and other dirty ****.
However, I am not suggesting that you pour this into your carburator.
