![Question](https://www.rx7club.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Ok its the age old question with a million answers, and no I am not asking what the best aftermarket setup is.....
I calculated the CFM I need and I got ........130?
WTF?
Maybe I expected it to be a little higher. I mean the Nikki is a 4 barrel after all.......
Honestly I would like to put a 650 CFM 4 Barrel on mine; because I already went the weber 45 route and didnt like the results.
Do you think a 650 is too much or should I bump it down to say a 450 CFM?
Keep in mind this is a stock port 12A, N/A, Header, Free flowing exhaust, No emissions, Street Driver.
This is just a temp setup to break in my apex seals......... I already got a 650, a 450. Nikki, and Weber 45. I just dont want to waste too much money fabricating an intake for each to see which one works better.....

Stick with the weber, once you get it set up right (thats what we're here for), it rocks. What didn't you like about it? The nice thing about Webers is that you can tune them to whatever power curve you want plus swapping jets is a breeze.

If I remember this correctly, I read a post by Sterling a couple of days ago where he claimed that anything over 450 CFM on a stockport 12A would kill your low/midrange!?
I canīt remember exactly what he wrote, but Iīll try to find that thread
Anyway, if thereīs somebody out there who knows about this for sure, itīs got to be Sterling!!!

Dammit All!!!!!!!!!!! I sold the weber a few hours ago..............I knew I should have held on.......Someone shoot me please! Thanks for the link, and info guys. The reason I sold the weber was I couldnt ever get it to mix right. You know hind sight is 20/20 but to save face here I bet its because I didnt use a pressure regulator......... Anyone got a weber for sale?..........

That weber should have flowed somewhere around 450 cfm as it was I believe. I could be wrong though.
Go with a sterling carb if you already got rid of the weber. You'll thank yourself in the end as I hear the sterling carb is VERY good.

They are specific to vertical and horizontal mounting. The 45 DCOE you had was a horizontal mounting weber, while the 48 IDA racing beat sells is a vertical mounting carb. The DCOE and IDA classification is weather its a sidedraft carb for downdraft (horizontal and vertical respectively).

Iīm just curious...
When you tried the Weber, did you use the stock or an aftermarket fuelpump?
(According to the RB-site, Webers require about 1psi higher fuelpressure than a stock Nikki... Feel free to correct me if Iīm wrong about this

Stock fuel pump on the weber.......It was running insanely rich no matter what tuning I did to it. I was thinking that maybe the pump was pushing too hard not too little.

A weber needs about 7 psi of fuel pressure I think. The stock pump is only capable of 2.5-3.5 psi, which isn't nearly enough. Chances are you were running insanely lean instead of rich. There is really no way to tell if your car's running too rich or lean without a A/F meter.
