hondah8er- You should have kept your mouth shut from the beginning.
Everyone else- don't listen to this guy, just because a engine is capable of making X amount of torque at X rpm does not mean that is what it making at that rpm all the time.
Wankel FD Rx-7- if you are using the stock turbo with stock boost levels you won't have a problem with the trans or rear IF you don't go grinding gears and dropping the clutch at high rpm. I'm running a big single turbo with a stock -se rear and it's held up great so far.

Your right. But why would you want go partial throttle all the time? And compared to a rotary which only has a significant amount of torque at high rpm (more so in turbo applications), the v10 as given in examples would be producing a heafty amount of torque consistanly. Needless to say the rear would not last long. But hey thats my opinion .

It's all theoretical, no one would actually put a stock trans/rear behind a turbo V-10. But if someone did I'm sure the trans would go and the rear would last as long as you kept the smallish stock tires on it. There are people with healthy V-8's with stock rears. My car has the stock rear and I keep up to a 486bhp V-8 FC. One thing to remember though is the 84-85 models got larger axle shafts.

I haven't ever reiterated that point but everytime I read this thread I actually though to myself "who the **** would ever do that anyways? This is absurd to even speculate about it!"
I have an 85 GSL but the SE's pumpkin is still a bit beefier.

It was an F'n example to prove the point. GET OVER IT!!! Like I said the first time, ABUSE KILLS PARTS. You just proved this by saying "But why would you want to go to part throttle all the time?". Obviously this means that you are probably going to abuse it if you have it. I dealt with that statement before you even said it by saying "If you were to just let the clutch out and drive normally the transmission would not break. If you floor it, it will." Where is the discrepancy? No one would want to do it. But they could and it could work. The original question that was asked was if he "could" do it. ******* YES already! End of discussion. Deal with it and move on.
