I have a 83 GS, i want to know if the stock differential could support the Turbo II engine... on stock boost, stock engine, stock turbo.

You could theoretically run a twin turbo V-10 Viper engine through that rear end if you are good to it and take it easy. FWIW I have killed a T-II syncro with NO turbo on a transplanted tranny so anything is possible. Too much abuse kills parts faster than anything. More power doesn't neccessarily mean more stress. More power usually means that the driver is harder on the car though and this is where the problem lies.

On a sidenote...i had a 12a tranny with my T2 setup for 2 years or about 20,000 km. I replaced it before it went but towards the end it started to whine ALOT. This is with 271 rwhp at 14 psi on the stock turbo.

The only idiotic statement was the reply to mine. Sorry dude you had that one coming. So you don't come back at me with another one, I do realize that the Viper does not come with turbos. Go check out Super Viper Sytems or Hennessey Motorsports to see some that are. If you were to just let the clutch out and drive normally the transmission would not break. If you floor it, it will. Don't be so naive. Like I said, it is ABUSE that kills parts. I usually kill the clutch first anyways.

Even a bone stock viper's torque would rip apart the stock diff and tranny at low speeds. And my statement had nothign to do with you saying it had twin turbos. Even a stock viper's torque would destroy a 12a rear and tranny. Use your head brother.

Why dont u get a life? My 320hp motor made 243 ft lbs of torque. Far cry from over 500 ft/lbs of torque in a viper isn't it genius?

Do you have any idea how much torque the viper makes at low rpm's? I'd be curious to find out exactly but I can bet it makes well over 300 ft lbs at say 2500 rpm.

That would be at full throttle.
I think what these guys are trying to say is that you could baby it for some period of time until it could be replaced by something better. You don't drive around in traffic using all that 500 lbs of torque.

well you can put a GSL-SE rear end in there... and use the GSL-SE tranny for a little bit... and you don't have to cut the drive shaft...
and mwatson... tight name... Marques...
my name is spelled exactly the same...

I don't make drag racing, so i might be okay for a few months. I don't make 6000rpm clutch drops... I like to floor it on the highway and take curves
