still wont idle.
After having the car in the shop for a week and replacing every thing in the fuel system including the carb and all the ignition system it still wont hold an idle.So what im thinking is maybe it could be the rats nest causing this but am I wrong?

Yes I have and from what I can tell I have none so im thinking maybe one of the sylonoides(sp) in the nest is bad or some thing im just wondering before I spend the money for the stuff to remove it if it is bad.

Could be wabbit, could be..... Do you have emissions testing in Washington? If not, then yank the nest and you'll have eliminated a whole bunch of possible issues all at once.

More than likely you have a vacuum leak. Have you checked the hose that comes off the back of the intake manifold? It is a common leak area.
What effect does adjusting the mixture screw have?
Do you have fuel in both sight glass windows on the front and back of the carb? It should be halfway up the window.
Doubtful it is the rats nest, unless one of the hoses is cracked and leaking.
