Stereo, clock problem

So I pulled my car out today, hasn't been started in a while, been sitting for about 4 months. Got a new battery and put it in. I was an idiot and let my 16 year old younger brother put the battery in while I ran inside to grab something, he put the cables on positive, then neg, causing a **** load of sparks, he may have even put them on wrong, but he says he didn't Any who after I scolded him for being a moron, I started her up, and the great rotary roared to life! I was very pleased, didn't really drive her just backed her out of the garage and back in, checked the lights, everything seems to run smooth. The only problem is the antenna won't go down, or up, no sound is coming from speakers when stereo is on, w/ or without a tape. and the clock is just a blank screen. The Back light works, and the antenna will go up and down if a tape is placed in the deck. just seems to be the stereo area in general that is f***** up...any thoughts? Fuse?

Check the Fusible Links, Fuse Panel, and then start checking the wiring if nothing else ends up being the culprit... Chances are if your lucky a couple fuses went... if not you're SOL on the center dash...

Well I popped under today to check the fuses, pulled the stereo antenna one out, didn't look burned. I popped a replacement in that was in the box. No luck I'm going to try and trace it down, but my cheap-O meter is broken, so I got to pick a new one up. Hope it's not too hard to find. no Fusible links.

If it was the fuse the stereo would not even turn on. You didn't cut any wires? Sounds like you should pull it out and inspect. Since it's the tape deck maybe a good time to upgrade? HD Radio's are out now and cheap (JVC) etc.

Does that have seperate amp? That could be the problem. I don't know first thing I always do is toss out the OEM's radios.
