starter? I think

Alright, so I'm stuck at work unable to troubleshoot the rx-7. Last night went to start it up and you could here the fuel pump running, and the soloniod clicked over (you know, like it wanted to start, but couldn't find the muster to actually spin the starter) would this be a bad connection, bad starter gear, or solonoid. I'm gonna test it and attempt to push start it jus to rule out any major problems like a stuck apex etc. i had just drove it 35 minutes earlier (home from work) wtf gives. lol.

It definitely sounds like a starter. Mine has done that on several occassions now. I don't know why, I've yet to be able to figure out why my starter keeps going out; however, check your connections first. One time mine did that was because one of the wires had came looks from the ring that actually connects to the starter. The other times I had to replace it because I just kept having them go bad (and yes I would test them to see if they were bad first.)

Did you try tapping the starter with a hammer? Firmly tap the bottom of the starter about six times, then try to crank it. Sometimes that works. It's true, FB starters seem to be crap for alot of us. You are not alone!

Engine was just "stuck" I think it was from almost running out of gas. I tapped the starter and nothin happened so I popped the hood and spun the engine by hand and It let loose a little "pop" then spun freely. I think it just wasn't lubricated well seeing as I premix and the closer I get to empty it may have been a bit on the lean side (as far as oil goes). So i have her a lil shot of power foil tonight through the intake and a wee bit of mmo for good measure, and once again, she runs like a champ.
