Starter... HELP!

So I finally finish my carbs and I know they are good and everything is connected... Brand new fully charged battery... go to start and it cranks REAL slow... ok, starter needs new brushes I think... take apart starter and one of the springs for the brush is bent, so I fix it and put everything back together wrong about 8 times (So I can rebuild that starter in about 3 Min flat now) anyways, get it together RIGHT and get it back on the Rex... re-connect negative with the key out, and it cranks... ok, switched terminals on the selonoid (SP) and it still cranks...

Can someone get me a picture of how all their wires and stuff connect on their Rex...

Its a 1982 Stick

Thanks

Should be a pic in the online shop manual. It's pretty obvious as I recall (did 3 starters last summer). Just be sure the light gauge tickler is well-seated on the spade lug at the top of the solenoid - sometimes they pop off.

If it's spinning BEFORE you turn the key either the solenoid is stuck or the tickler from the ignition key is inappropriately hot or the wrong lead (from something else) is on the spade lug. Sometimes solenoids stick, so bang it with a light hammer. If it's on the car you can stick a lonng extension down thru wires, etc., and tap that with a hammer.
