squeaky alt/fan belt

Whatever you do don't use that spray-on belt grip ****. It doesn't work. Have you though about getting a dual row alternator pulley so you can run two belts? Other than that I don't know what else you can do.

Usually a squeaky belt means that the belt has slipped and glazed. (it will be shiney.)
Get a new one.
If you are not running the air pump you need a duel belt alternator pulley or you will go through belts like mad.
Just my $.02

RB sells the dual belt alternator pulley. Using it pretty much requires that you don't have an airpump.
Better IMO is to convert to an electric fan... costs a little more but it makes a big difference in the lower gears. Plus it cleans up the engine bay by not having to run that big fan shroud...

IMO it's good to run dual belts even if you convert to an electric fan. That way you don't have to worry about slippage which it still might do even if you get rid of the clutch type fan or being stranded because of a broken belt. And if you want a really clean engine bay you can mount the fan(s) in front of the radiator. That's what I did. Here's a pic. It's pretty shitty but you get the idea.

If you have air tools you can get the old pulley off pretty easy. I am without my parents garage being at school, so I took mine to AutoZone and they swapped them for me.
Be sure you go back to the same place for your second alt belt. I had to get 2 belts from 2 different stores, and they weren't the same length. They were both for the right car, but some manufacturers differ in length. It wasn't really bad, just that when I tightened it up, one belt was tight and one was pretty loose.
