Gotta love the way those stock rims shine when you give them some attention.

The better route would be to polish, mask off the black area and clearcoat, then reverse mask and spray paint in a satin single stage polyurethane paint. I can do the clear and satin paint, I do not polish. I'm not set up for it and don't know if I have the patience for it.
I did a Honda intake cover, with the raised Honda emblem polished then clearcoated. It came out pretty decent, until he put a carbon fiber hood on it that rubbed on the intake cover.

The biggest problem I see is some of the edges and where they meet the curves. It might be possible to do it in reverse order, powder then polish. The old paint needs to be stripped and sandblasted. I could then coat the black. The rims would need repolishing afterwards at the edges where the powdercoating meets. I can mask off the polished area so little damage would occur from the blasting.
If you are serious about having this done, let's take it to PM's and not clutter Jon's thread.

Thank you! That's exactly the info I needed!

The brass thing (which I'm absolutely amazed someone noticed) is a driver's side rear brake adjuster for us folks with Drum brakes
Mine doesn't work, so I only half-brake in the rear, and my e-brake doesn't hold with both wheels. So I ordered it to remedy that problem.

Airflow is my life
Yes trochoid alot of the specialty powders are difficult to work with, but properly cured they are resistant to gasoline and chemicals. I did some stuff in annodized red (chrome base with tinted red clear) and soaked it in skydrol (aircraft hydraulic fluid). That stuff eats epoxy paint, imron (polyurethane) and anything else you get it on. While it softened the coating it didnt remove it. I have worked with my suppliers and with careful curing they will be fine underhood. They are just more sensitive to cure time and temperature to cure correctly. Thats why they cost more to coat with (along with multi stage shooting and the powder is more $). Sorry for the hijack Jon. Nice work trochid, how bout we split the continent in half? You get the west and I get the east. LOL

lol.. don't worry about it Carl. When posts give people info about stuff this cool, it's worth a *small* hijack Besides... "bling" threads fall off the board so fast, it's nice to have something to bump it up for a while
That's crazy how resistant those coatings are.... Is that what you're using on the intake? or would that cost me three times as much to get done? (sounds like one heckuva process!)
