speedometer?

hey there i have a question
it seems that my speedometer always goes up to like the higest speed even when im going like 30 km an hour it just goes all the way up to like 220
my tachometer doesnt do the same thing so its something to do with the speedometer cable im guessing!
if you have any idea get back to me plz thanks!

Yeah, it's either your gauge, the linkage, or at the other end.

Sounds like you need a new speedo cable. It is an easy fix.

I think the problem is in the speedo itself and not the cable.

The cable turns a little disk inside the speedo which is coupled to a magnet which is in turn connected to the needle. If the disk and magnet are too close or touching it will cause the needle to skyrocket exactly like yours is doing.

You might have to just buy a new speedo.

To gain access you need to remove at least part of the dash. It's been awhile since I replaced mine but I seem to remember that is was a pain in the *** to get to.

*edit* There's a little spring attached to the needle which could also cause this problem if it's broken or missing. Anyhow, you'll need to pull the speedo to check it.
