Spark Plug Diagnosis
Hello everyone. I have a hopefully easy question for those of you who know how to diagnose a spark plug. I decided to check out my Autolite's (i know i know, get NGK's) after 4000 of driving with them in. Everyone one of them was covered at the end with a dry white cakey substance. Most of it came off by wiping and cleaning off with my fingers/rags, but they still look kinda nasty. Should this tell me something about my engine? Is the timing off? Too rich/too lean? Anyone ever see this? Thanks.

Sounds relatively normal, a lot of today’s gas has a bunch of additives that will leave a powder residue on a plug. Plus if your O2 sensor was bad, you were running to rich this would affect the spark plug.
Chance the oil! Since you were also burning some oil (from one of your last posts)
Run her another 1000 miles and see how they look!
Is the car running better? The O2 sensor really perked up the POS Racers performance!

i'll give it time
O.k. I will drive the car for a while and see what happens, if the plugs get all white again or not. The o2 sensor did seem to improve performance. I may even turn the mixture screw back towards the rich side a tad. My oil should be good, since I have put 6 quarts in during the last 3000 miles, but I'm probably going to change that too. Thanks for the help guys.

thanks, and, i do
Hey, thanks, I do have a steering wheel actually, i was going to put it on ebay and see what it got, it's a 2 spoke rx-7 wheel, fits 79-85, was actually on my car when I got it, the pictures were given to me from the previous owner. It's in perfect condition, no scratches on the spokes, the mazda center horn has no imperfections, the outside rim of the wheel is perfect with no cuts. I wanted a 4 spoke rx-7 wheel from a first-gen so I found one and put it on, it's much thicker (outside rim) then the 2 spoke wheel, here's a bad pic of it i was going to use on ebay. interested?

that interior shot makes my want to cry.
Looks like a reparable seam split on the seat, but can be fixed without removing the seat.
My interior looks likes the previous owners were a family of CowRats.
POS,
I have a brown 4 spoke sitting around. It's solid, but a little messy. I'm not sure how one would go about restoring one.
