SP vs S Coupe Trim Options

According to the sales sheet and the registration, I have a Tender Blue/Grey 1985 RX-7 SP Coupe. I've never seen a reference to the "SP" coupe, just the "S". Can anyone tell me where this sits in the hierarchy of trim options?

Thank you.

Nope, SP. (Sierra Papa) It's on the original window sticker.

They had a SP in 95 but that was a full-on race ready car. This is just a nice car with an 12A engine and the GLS-SEs had the 13-B.

I'm a bit baffled.

S is the model and P is the transmission

for reasons unknown A is Automatic and P is manual. Mazda still uses it today. in the past they probably only had the one spot for the model and transmission and stuff, now they have more

so if you're looking at Mazda Japan sourced documents,
S P is an S with a manual
GS P is a GS manual
GSL P is a GSL manual
the GSLSE was either SE RP or GSLSE for some reason, maybe PS?

SA is an automatic S model
GS A is GS Automatic
GSL A is a GSL Automatic

^^^^^ Always a wealth of info in your responses. Thank you for teaching me something today! I was completely unaware of the P and A designations.
