Sounds like UJoint going out on 83

The 83GS has 120k and now it makes a noticeable click when I start off. Also makes that characteristic "bad Ujoint sound" when I'm driving along. "Slickita slickita slickita" and some low speed vibration. Fortunately I have a spare drive-shaft up at the other house so I'll go get it.

Hope I don't get synchronized UJoint failures in my stable. This summer I had 3 starters on 3 cars fail in the same week! And many years ago I had the UJoints fail in both my Alfa and Fiat in the same month. Is it a communicable disease, or what?

Man I think my cars are in a union. I swear when one breaks down so does the other, like they are on strike or some shyt! I must tell that my other car is a pinto so no surprize there!

Word is that the FB UJoints are not individually replaceable, so you gotta replace the whole propshaft/UJoint assembly. More costly (unless you've scrounged up a spare free or cheap somewhere, like me). But maybe when I get it swapped I'll try fixing the UJoints with a bench vise, brass hammer, punch, dikes, and can of snotty grease like an old-time mechanic once taught me.

79-82 has replacable joints.
83-85 are non-serviceable, but some driveshaft specialty shops can replace them, costs about $50 each........
