Some ******* just smashed my car outside my house
****...
I live right next to my university right, and there's a big student res bordering on the parking lot which is my backyard. Well, earlier today, I was getting in my car to drive somewhere, and I disarmed my alarm system. So some ******* yell out their window something to the tune of "nice alarm system for a piece of **** car." Yeah, real piece of ****, mint FB with mods. Some people have no taste. Anways, ordinarily I might have strolled over and seen what these clowns thought was so funny, but I've been working since 6am today and I wasn't in the mood for games. I just ignored them and went where I was going.
So later a friend and forum member comes over and we take my car out for a spin on the town for a few hours. I come back and park my car around 1:30am. Around 2:30am, I'm getting ready for bed, as I've been up since 4:30 yesterday morning and am tired. Right after I take my contact lenses out and climb into bed, I hear someone yelling outside my window, something like "yeah, we're back" or something. And then a loud *bang* sound, and then my alarm wailing.
So I go to look out my window but I can't see **** cause I don't have my contacts in. I call the cops right away, and they say they'll send a car out.
So I go outside with a flashlight... amazingly, I can't see any damage. No broken windows, no big dents, etc. So I'm standing around, glaring in the direction of the student res, trying to scope any likely suspects. There's a few lights on, but how the **** do I know who it was. I know who's window it was that the ******* were yelling at me from before, but that window is dark and I can't see anyone inside.
So then, someone starts yelling "Hey.... Hey". **** like that. But I can't see anyone. I'm really tired and not in the mood to start a fight with a bunch of drunks, so I don't go banging on anyone's doors.
Anyways, I pull my car up to the top of my driveway to have a closer look, and now I think someone kicked my fender, because the fender gap looks too big and the edge of the fender looks kind of pressed in a bit. But no noticeable dent that I can see.
So I wait for a half hour... and the cops don't bother to show up... surprise surprise.
I know nothing terrible happened this time, but how do I know these ******* won't come back tomorrow night and smash my windows? I work at 6am everyday and I can't be out every night guarding my car. I'm thinking of putting my car in storage over this... I just can't stand to put my baby at risk. I can't even sleep now.
When I was younger I would have called all my friends and gone over to that res to beat the **** out of anyone I could find, but these days I feel like I'm supposed to be an adult and not do **** like that. I dunno, maybe I'm a ***** now lol. I don't want to start some war with that whole res over this ****.
Oh, and to top it off, I don't have comprehensive insurance on my car anymore until I get an appraisal (my car just turned over 20 years old.) So if someone smashes it up, insurance won't cover it. Guess it's time for an appraisal ASAP.
Man, I'm so pissed this happened, I haven't slept for almost 24 hours and I can't sleep now.
I know this might not seem like so big a deal, but it is if you understand how I feel about my car. I guess my current house probably isn't the place for it.

Hmmm... cop just showed up now. Talked for a while, turns out he's a car guy and knows all about RX-7's lol. Basically said he can't do anything since I didn't see exactly who it was, and he suggested I don't start **** with them since they'll just come back and smash my car for real this time. Seems like good advice I guess. I don't want to start anything more with those drunken ******* because I think my car will be the one that will lose.

I wish I could come right over there and bust some knee-cap. (Just tell me some **** I don't wanna hear...You guys know how I get! )
Security is one of those wonderful things I take for granted up here in Dairy-Land NY. It's very rural, and so the threat of a car being stolen is about nill. However, there are plenty of high school kids with nothing to do over the summer.
(I worry that someone'll do a rat-thing, like key my Sunrise Red paint.) I do lock the car because I don't want my tool bag, speakers, or $450 worth the CDs (if they were new) stolen.
But to have to worry about someone bashing it?...I feel for you.
Time for some sort of hidden camera deally! Get the car appraised, and then find out from a lawyer if hidden camera footage is ever disputeable.
Just remember, the guy that kicked yer car was probably drunk and showing off. They were in that house with the lights off cause they got scared! I bet when he realized the severity of what he had just done, he got worried. He probably won't do it again. But catch him in the act, and call us all over for a bar-b-que; An "Rx-7 and yer favorite bat" bar-b-que!

Now that it's day light, give us an update on the damage report...maybe they jumped on the bumper....maybe they smashed someone else's window and kicked yours...much as you don't want to hear this, here we go....if you are unable to move or get a garage for the rex, you need to kiss some *** to save your baby....confront the guys and ask what it is about an old rex that pisses them off. Take 'em for a ride, buy them a six pack... that kind of stuff. It has been said that wars wouldn't be fought if the people could stand face-to-face and see their enemy in a more personal light. A stranger is a friend you haven't met yet...

It got annoying to find crap all over the place all the time, Even though it never came directly to me. Near a fourth of July, I called them all over to my trunk and handed them out packs of firecrackers. Ever since, they would look out for me, and keep other idiots at bay.
I could beat the **** out of them because they were too young, (even though some were bigger than me), so I got on their level.

That stinks, sorry to hear that. Some "hotshot" at school tried to rip my license plate off and broke my Mazdatrix frame and also cracked my taillight. What a loser! If I ever find out who did it, there's a double barrel spud gun waiting to be fired up their ***.

silverrocket ... i know your pain, and i know exactly how you feel. i won't tell you to start a war, but i'm also not going to tell you to make friends with these pieces of ****.
i mean, what mar3 and directfreak said is right, but always remember that people are people, and people suck! and what might work with some idiots will not NECESSARILY work with others ...
all i can say is protect your car as much as you can. if you can find a safer place to park where it won't inconvenience you too much, then do that. if not, then just be prepared to lose some sleep!
my car got stolen from right in front of my house, and it was never found. so i bought another Rx-7 ... just to spite whoever took the first one, and i stayed up all night just waiting for someone to come after the new one, even tried to get a gun. but no one ever tried anything. i sold that one, and bought another one ... and someone broke into it in the parking lot at school one night ...
so my point is, you'll never know when someone wants to be a dick!!!!

I feel ya dude, the other week I just got home from a meet and parked my gs outside my house and go to sleep. I live in katy, Tx, so crime is basically nil here too. **** forced the window down and stole my wallet and cell phone, tried to take my amp for the sub, (it was screwed into the floor). Oh, and the best part? my wallet had a spare key in case if I locked myself out. So now I have to get it rekeyed. I hate those people who are too bored to do this ****, so now I have to order a security system in the near futuretoo.

P.s. If someone here lives in katy, let me know if now a good locksmith.

This stuff with guns n' **** is way over the top.
Even for a guy with a temper like mine!
I am, however, thinking about a security management system that sends rusty nails up thru the drivers seat when someone tries to drive off with it.
Just don't ever forget to type in your PIN #!
And anyone ever pklay with the flash unit from a disposable camera?
BZZZZZT!
I was thinking a capacitor the size of a car battery, wired to the body.
As soon as they touch it...
That stuff would make you want to park where it would tepmt them!

Hey guys, thanks for all the great advice.
So, a little update...
I thoroughly washed and inspected my car this morning. There was a bunch of some kinda blue **** on the hood, I don't have a clue what it was. I managed to wash it off with a lot of scrubbing. Other than that, no visible damage I think I was wrong about the fender - when I looked at it in daylight it looked the same as always. I think my mind was playing tricks on me last night.
So I did a few different things..
I had an appraiser come over and appraise my car this afternoon. This guy pulled up in a modded convertible 99 M3, and was totally loving my car and the shape it was in. I'll have the results on Wednesday, and then I'll have my comprehensive insurance reinstated.
I also called the student residence apartment building down the street; they have an underground parking garage. I left a message asking them if they'd be willing to rent me a parking space. I'm hoping to hear back from them soon.
Also, I called campus security. I told them the whole story, along with the address of the unit where those clowns were yelling at me, and they said they'd contact the residence dons and put them on the lookout. As well, they said they'd send their campus police officers (who at our school are actually real Waterloo police officers believe it or not) around the area of my house and the residence at least once a night from now on.
I wish I had the cash for a security camera or whatever, but I'm a broke student and I can't afford that lol. It would sure be easy for me to set one up from my bedroom window though, if I had one in the first place. A motion light might be an interesting idea... I might talk to my landlord about that if I have any more problems.
It sure sounds like some of you have had much worse experiences than this. I think I'd be seriously out for blood if there was actual damage on my car, but for now I'd rather not aggravate the situation.
It's a good idea, but I gotta tell you guys... there's no way I'll be making friends with ******* who yell at people and hit their cars. I couldn't go over there and act friendly, and I'm sure as hell not spending my hard earned cash to buy them beer or giving them rides in my car. I think I would end up throwing heaters for sure if I walked over there and saw the ******* who did this. Then I'd be in trouble myself. I'd rather let their residence dons and campus security put the heat on then buddy up with these clowns.
Thanks again for the great advice guys!

hey Silver! maybe that blue stuff was from their jeans (like they tried to do a Starsky & Hutch on your baby) <-- sorry don't want to plant any negative images, just a thought.
i have a similar problem here, only it's the kids next door, we share a driveway (semi-detached) and they put up a F'n basketball net and hit the car all the time (until i started taping them and quoting bodyshop prices) they've even hit it falling off their skateboards. i found another place to park it and now some dog pisses on my back tire like every day (new tires too!) sometimes i want to firebomb the whole damn neighbourhood! i've had my own problems with some other kids up the street too. pretty sad when i have to store the car in Scarborough to keep it safe!!!
i hope these guys are tired of messing with your ride, or you catch them one night on your way to 'batting practice'
