...and I've already spent $62.75 on gas. I really need to get this tuned or something because ~150 miles on a tank ain't gonna last long. I drive like a grandma, too. Shifts are usually between 3k and 3.5k.

Hopefully, after I rebuild the carb and get the timing a little better, the car will do better. As of now, though, this is just ridiculous.

I thought it was only people who buy FDs who realize that they can't afford them!

Man, that does really suck. Definitely do a carb rebuild. I was getting around 25 mpg when I parked mine, now I am waiting for my Holley Intake Kit from Racing Beat, and shortly after I get that it is time to start tearing down my other 12a. Hopefully with a carb rebuild you'll be able to get better gas mileage than that.

Something's wrong.

I usually put in 8-9 gallons at about the 160 mark when mostly driving through extremely dense city traffic. That's about $23 a fill. Mine is a completely bone stock 1984 with 100k miles.

yep, rebuild carb and do the DLDFIS or 2GCDFIS and you will be well over 20mpg. I did these (carb& 2GCDFIS w/TT/cooler) and am getting around 25 HWY mpg with a serious lead foot problem.

I am driving a stock 12a that I just got less than 3 months ago and after I did the tune up my self, and did most of the setting my self. I been getting near 230 miles and I clean the carb with carb cleaner, change the fuel filter, do a injector cleaner, change sparkplugs, wires, rotor, cap, oil change and even checked my own timing. All I need now is a air filter, and sea foam maybe the motor next and I should be done with the tune-up. So, at first I was getting a low 16mpg now I am getting near 20-22mpg. Then again I redline the car a few times just for fun so, I would start checking those things and replacing them

If this is with the engine mods listed in your sig:
1985 RX7 GS - Street Ported S5 irons, FD housings, NA S5 rotors, 5/6 ports removed, Mikuni 44PPH, RB exhaust
What were you expecting? A stock or mildly ported 12a will get around 20MPG when tuned somewhat well, and driven with a certain amount of restraint.
The setup you list, would be lucky to pull 15 MPG on the highway, and 10 around town.
Shifting at 3-3.5K won't do much good either, as the power is hurt down low with no aux sleeves, and that carb is actually better for higher RPM ranges.
