Question So is it the hydraulics?

In my previous post https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/cant-get-into-any-gear-544495/ I was trying to find out why the car would not go into gear with the engine running.

Since the hydraulics were suspect, I went out to measure the diston the piston comes out of the slave cylinder to see if t's pushing far enough to release the clutch. The result was approximately 9/16"
of travel with the clutch pedal fully pressed.

How does this compare to known workign clutch hydraulics? If it's short on travel, than I have found the problem and wil replace the Slave cylinder.

thanks.

That doesn't sound like it is travelling far enough. I think it needs to have 1" or more travel to disengage the clutch.

Does sound a bit short, but it could be the master that's at fault by leaking internally and not pushing the slave far enough. You have other 7s, compare it to them for reference.
