Well my uncle just went to smog his 85 w/ the 13b and it didnt pass here in socal. The smogger said he would pass the 25mph test and he even tried to turn the carbs down to get it to pass but no luck. Car is running in good great and is tuned but still cant pass. i know us 3rd gen guys use alcohol and was wondering if you guys do the same and in what form alcohol do you get it in...fuel, rubbing....lol. please let me know. thanks

Intresting, well a '85 Rx-7 did not come with a 13b-carburetor combo, that is your first problem. So running a engine without a air pump/ converter set up will be very difficult at best to pass.
What about the visual? I am suprised that they even bothered to test the car.
Shoot us a picture of your engine bay, I am currious about what we can to do get this beast to pass.

well i cant get pics of the vehicle since its my uncle's and he's about an hour away from me and never home. I think he said carbs but i wasnt sure because i was aware that they were using injectors on his. i really am just looking to find out more info on the alcohol trick. The car has passed the last 9 times and just this year it didnt pass....dont know if not driving it would have had an effect so im thinking his air pump needs replacing. any help would be appreciated. thanks
