Slave Cylinder ?

I just noticed recently that my slave cylinder piston rod goes through the clutch fork hole. Shouldn't the rod not go through there? I put a washer at the end of the rod so it doesn't go through the clutch fork hole, but I'm a little confused as to why it would go through it. Is a 79 slave cylinder different from a 83 because the transmission is an 83. But I don't think that they would change the clutch fork and slave cylinder between those years.

take that rod out and turn it around with the small end of the boot around the groove on the fat end, it'll help hold it in. the fat end goes against the fork.

Ooooh, okay. Thanks for the clarification, the slave cylinder before it was faced the way I have it now, so I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be switched. Thanks for the help.

glad you got it figured out.. this is kind of an easy one to botch if its the first time you've rebuilt the slave cylinder. now, you'll never forget how that goes together!
