sitting rx-7
i found a old rx-7 and i was woundering if it will lock up by just sitting there or maybe rust together. is there some way of loosening it up before you turn it over like poor oil some where or something of that nature please get back to me asap.

...94% correct.
Most likely what would happen is the apex seals would lock down, destroying compression. You best bet is to take a wrench and see if the engine will turn...very slowly. Then get you some ATF or heavy gear oil and pour it in the intake manifold. Pour several ounces in at a time, and turn the engine 1/4 turn each day for a week or so. I used to do this with old piston engines.

IT WILL SMOKE! Don't be alarmed the ATF will make it smoke like a champ till itnurns out! As far as the heavy oil issue I'm not real sure but I don't think it will have the same effect as it does on a piston motor. FYI:Mazda recommends 20w50 I think.Oil distribution While I haven't taken one apart yet to see exactly I think like a piston motor execpt for the fact that it also injects some in the fuel supply. Sorry I'm still green too!
