This is illustrated in various shop manuals. Go to wwww.iluvmyrx7.com and download a copy of the factory manual.
The fronts are inserts. The rears are regular shocks. It took me about 6 - 8 hours to replace everything the first time I did it. I could probably do it now in about 4 hours.

The manuals do help. Find someone local to help too. It'll go much faster. Not that it's the same but I had a buddy, who knew what he was doing, get it done in 2.5 hours on my 02 Subaru and we bs'd the whole time.

rears take 15 mins a piece tops. fronts will take around 30 min a piece doing everything in proper order.
you can replace the insert without removing the whole assembly from the car. just undo the top and pivot it out.

yes it is.
unbolt your top 4 strut tower bolts, unbolt the anti-roll bar and swing everything down and out.
load on the spring compressor, break loose top retainer nut, remove perch, pull off spring with compressor still attached.
get 2 big pipe wrenches, one on the nut holding the cartridge in, one on the strut assembly and break it loose (left loosy)
then just reverse the process, be sure to coat the new cartridge with an oil bath (some light weight oil) to aid in heat transfer.

I've helped with an '02 RSX install. It looks to be the same thing. Except we didn't have a spring compressor. I have the Haynes manual and VB catalogs. I just thought maybe somebody had pics of the insert process so I don't screw anything up. I don't have anything yet. Still have to decide what I want to do with my tax money.
