Should i conver to 4 port or stay 6 port (street port)

I'm wondering if i should switch to 4 port side housings when i have my engine rebuilt and ported.

I'm going to be running the car completely stock otherwise for a while, until money permits.

The only mod is going to be DLIDFIS and Mazdatrix modified exhaust. HOWEVER, if i get 4 port, i'm going to have to do a dif exhaust....

Pretty muh what i'm asking is: Which is goign to give me better acceleration for smashign somehonda ***: 4 port or 6 port.

I'm not much of a mechanic, so i dont know much of building it myself.

What type of exhaust would i need if i went 4 port?

I'm thinkign i would prefer 6 port, because it will give me plenty of power when street ported, and is relatively structurally the same and easier for future mods...

Why would you need different exhaust for a four-port?

The exhaust bolts to the rotor housings which wouldn't change. Am I missing something?

since you're streetporting, and you'll have to get an aftermarket intake anyways, go with the 4 port.

like dj rotor said, the exhaust on both engines (and all 13B's, for that matter) are the same. my only advice would get an exhaust that is "streetport 13B-friendly" from now, that way all you'll have to do is bolt your 13B header to it.

your acceleration is going to come down to your fuel and intake setups, and tuning thereafter. i've found very little difference between 4-ports and 6-ports in the low to mid RPM levels. (this is just my ***-o-meter, though ... i didn't take timed acceleration runs - besides, it's two different cars anyway) i've found that the 4-ports are a bit better upstairs, though (and i think they are significantly better for forced induction - but that's not your issue).

I think that beings i have low fundage, i'm going to keep the exact stock setup only upgrade bits and pieces of it. (Stay 6 port that is).

Until i'm rich, or can afford to spare about 5k on my car, i'm going to just keep it simple and "easy". Nothing too drastic of a change.

However it sounds like 4 port is the way to go down the road.

(I think that i was retarded at the time of typing. yeah.. a 6 port exhaust.... duhhhh :rollseyes

What era would the 4 ports come from. Early? I have acquired some 12a motors and some 13b motors and the 13b's are different 1st gen to 2nd gen a bit for mounting in the chassis. WE found that out today with the front of the 87 being slightly different than the 85 GSL-SE. I want to BP a 12a bad and have a great candidate for the project. And the right car to put it in.

Wow. a thread back from the dead. A 4 port motor, I believe, will come out of an 88 to 91.

It's interesting to read the first post of this thread and see the original plans for the car. It now has a bad *** ported t2 motor, full suspension mods, webbers, etc... my how plans change.

theres been a lot of 4port/6port threads lately. The older 13b was a 4port (pre 79), you can build a 4port with -se and 12a bits, and the 86+ turbo cars were 4port( not interchangeable with earlier housings/plates due to coolant o-rings being moved).

I just had a streetported 6port and it was very smooth and pull VERY hard. But I guess I blew a coolant seal but once we tore the engine apart we couldnt find anything.... So we are rebuilding it as a 4-port.

But I really liked my 6-port alot.. They are fun with the 5th and 6th wired up
