Question short vs long block?

Just a question for those of you out there with more rotor knowledge than me. Looking at adds for engines online I've seen people advertise the 13b as a shortblock or a longblock? What is the difference? I thought all the 13b's were (basically) the same. (I know the whole 4vs 6 port, lightweigh rotors etc etc..) but block differences?

It’s the same engine; you just get more stuff on the long block, vs the short block. It’s more of a piston engine thing, short block is normally just the block with pistons and a crank, and no heads or intake, long block is close to ready to run. Not a 100% on what that would be on a 13B.

What kind of prices are you running across?

I was just wandering aimlessly thru the parts trader reading stuff.. not really paying attention to prices, and I saw those terms being used, so I was curious. Mine still run for now, so I'm hoping to keep it that way...

FYI, I have determined that 1st gens really aren't too rare around here. Today in the parking lot, there is my SE, a nice silver SE, and 83 GS (Matt Lucas from the auto-x). Your SE is about a mile away, and I see that other SE at the school about once a week. SO that's a total of 4 SE's that I see on a regular basis within a 5 mile radius... Odd...

no it really doesn't.. At the SCCA auto-x a few weeks back I beleive there were a total of 8 or 9 1st gens out there running, and one sitting there for sale. And I forgot one in my apartment complex too.. a brown GS(?) that is hella-loud...
