200 is too much, these work great unless you want the stock look, gregs, fbII, and( 83gsl....?) all have them and love em.

Thanks for the 7th grade education. It does make it slightly harder to shift but they have a really great feel, stock shifters are too long. It's the most bang for your buck.

i am chiming in right now. i have a short stance shifter from jorx81.... it kicks some serious ***. i have had people sit in my car and just get a feel of it and like it better than their 150 - 200 dollar "REAL" short throw shifter. his makes it really tight. i dont think it's harder to shift actually, only reverse. in fact, my slamming it in to third as fast as possible is a breeze now. especially compared to stock. for 30 friggin dollars, you really can not beat it.

If making a short THROW shifter was as easy as making the stick shorter,they wouldnt cost 200 bucks.They're 200 bucks because its an engineered part.Albiet,not a wildly difficult part to engineer,all you need is a lathe and a measuring tape,but it isnt just a used Mazda part thats been cut and rethreaded.
I tried the short shifter when I was broke,it cant compare with a proper short throw unit.My opinion..........

The only problem there would be increased effort.With the longer portion below the pivot point on the short THROW shifter,you lose some leverage advantage up top,even though the upper stick is stock height.This is because of the fulcrum point has effectively been raised.Combine that with an even shorter upper lever after you cut the stick down,(which means even less leverage advantage)and youll probably end up with tennis elbow after a years worth of shifting.Anyone wanna cut down a $200 short throw shifter to see?
.02 more cents, and I raise you a nickel,heh,heh.

i've decided since i have an extra FB/S4 FC shifter laying around, tomorrow i'm going to start brainstorming on it and test making my own short throw shifter... and after i test the short throw part, i'll shorten it as well

dude, we know the difference. 30 bucks for a tighter smoother shift now... 200 bucks for a shorter shift when im not poor. how many other people are gonna try and give lessons?

i love it over the stock shifter, however geoffs mazdatrix short throw shifter is way better
