She's Back!
So after nearly 3 months of downtime the RX-7 is up and running again. Besides needing a set of tires because I let the Yokos go flat and dryrot its in good shape.
The problem:
About 5 months ago Im driving the 7 around and all of the sudden the Tach and Gas gauge drop to Zero...the only think Im reading is Oil PSI and Water temp.
I changed all the fuses and it didnt help. But I continued to drive it anyway.
About a month later I drive to work..get there..work for 12 hours..then I get ready to go home.
I hop in..turn the switch...it just spins..not getting fire. I make sure it has gas..it does. I use some starter fluid...nothing. Finally I give up and tow it home where it has sat..under my back carport.
Ive worked on it off and on..mostly trouble shooting..I narrowed it down to the fuse panel. Problem is finding one. I search and searched and no one made them. Even the dealer didnt sale them anymore.
The Solution
So today I decided I was tired of seeing it sitting. I pulled out the fuse box..removed the wires and fuses. I broke it down and coated everything with dialectric grease. Let it sit..then put it back together. (very hard to do btw)
I charge the battery...and try to start it..not expecting anything. I turn the switch and it roars back to life. Smoked a little but sounded GREAT. It still looks like crap...but who cares.
All it needs now besides cosmetic stuff is some tires and brakes. Hopefully it will be back on the road by Saturday.
