serious Nikki carb problems along with big timing problem

ok stock 83 with holley blue(3psi)
only thing after manifold is a flowmaster(40srs), hey it was free
carb has no emissions no choke
no vaccum leaks I can find, have gone over so many times
idle screw 3.5 out
start up and the thing idles at damn near 150rpms any gas and it dies imediately. i try changin idle speed and it dies.

if i give it gas 1 outta 7 times maybe i get nice flamage out carb. is it a timing problem?

heres the deal i got out and pop the hood and toss on some jumpers(dead *** battery) so i can move it from my house to a bud's shop where it will stay for a while during a rebuild etc.
Distributor is loose from the retaining bolt(you know its the one you loosen to move dizzy left or right to adv, ret timing)
I pull out my handy dandy wrench and pow about 10ft/lbs and the head snaps off. well i reach down and with the luck of the gods apon me i bump the dizzy outta the hole, so I have no idea where to replace dizzy. I searched my haynes and no go
the Mazda shop manual online, i couldnt find it. so i stuck it in with the arrow on the leading part of the rotor to L1 on the dizzy with the crank at the yellow mark.

i most likely confused the hell out of anyone whom has just read this so I appologize for that, but i cant figure this out and am getting tired of the car real quick. bought to take it to scrap yard, so unless i get it working or someone gives me 500 bones its out like a bad lightbulb

You can't expect help with the carb until you know the dizzy's in right. There's a list forever long to troubleshoot. Certainly noone wants to type the books-worth of **** that could be wrong until you search out the timing issue first.

...especially if you're expressing an almost nonconcern for whether the car lives or dies.

I know the dizzy-setting info is here buried somewhere. Address the carb problem afterwords, and for Gawds sake, don't futz w/the carb no more till the timing is right.(ehh, & don't burn yer face off, either! )

Sounds right.

it's pretty easy to retime the dizzy...or get it close...then put a light on it. My question is how did you bump the dizzy out?
