Secondary Main Jets vs. Primary Main Jets identity...
I put both sets of secondary main jets and primary main jets in a ziplock bag while doing a carb rebuild. Shall I assume that the secondary main jets are the smaller orifice of the two types? (I didn't make a note of which threaded hole each came out of.) There are four total; two per float bowl cavity. Each float bowl cavity contains a Primary main jet and Secondary main jet. Does the larger jet mate to the larger orifice and vice versa?
Maybe easier to explain would be to ask if the smaller jets go toward the side that the throttle sensor is located.
My carb rebuild is at a halt until I get this data.
Thanks!

Ican see how it would be confusing. (to you) most people understand that there are two pairs of jets and that if they were set up the way you just stated, everyone would have two primaries on the firewall side and two secondaries on the side facing the front of the car. This would render the carburetor useless by your definition. I think you need to re-read your shop manual. Also, if the carburetor is on a bench, then my explanation makes it less confusing (unless your bench had a firewall and a front on it)

now how can you say the front of the car and the firewall? the jets go in each float bowl. 1 primary and 1 secondary per float bowl. obviously the primary jets are the littler ones, most likely they are stamped 92 or 93 i think. some are even got 70's in them. they go in the spot on the drivers side of the float bowls. now the secondaries should be 160 or 140's and they go in the spot on the passangers side of the float bowls. so you have a primary and a secondary in each float bowl.
hope that helps you out.

Yep. 92's are the primaries and secondaries are 160's; at least that is so for the 1981 model Nikki (140 is for the air bleed). I do have it on my bench; however, I went out and checked the orientation and driver's side is primaries and passenger side is secondaries.
Thanks, guys!
