Question Second gen wiring harness upgrade

Anyone know of anyone transplanting the S4 injection, injectors, and wiring harness (direct fire trailing and leading) to a GSLSE since its already injection. Yes I know you would have to switch over the intakes. I already did that. The point is I'd like the direct fire ignition and the ability to upgrade to a Power FC.

OR......

What do I have to purchase to get an MSD box and coils to run direct fire from them???? This would probably have to incorperate the 2nd gen crank positon sensor also

It can be done. You basically would need everything of an S4 (ECU, harness, intake, injectors, air flow meter, TPS, coolant temp sensor, coils, CAS, etc.). You may need to also add some of your own connections for power, fuel pump, and so on. I am not sure if it is worth the trouble or not. Perhaps an S5 setup would be better.

The MSD is easy. You don't need a CAS or anything. You can use what you have. You can fire the MSD through the dizzy cap or can do a direct fire setup like firing the 2nd gen coil. The MSD setup will normally be just on the leading. You can do on the trailing with a 2nd MSD box firing through the dizzy cap. It is not worth it though, in my opinon. If you want to go the MSD route, check out the MSD-DIS setup that hyper4mance2k uses.

You can't use S5 due to the electric OMP. The computer goes into "limp" mode if not working.

Going S4 is the only one you can use. instead of buying the power FC and then buying and swaping the old S4 equipment it'd be cheaper for you just to get a haltech or microtech instead.

They come with new harnesses and you get to lose the airflow meter and fully tunable which makes more power. Less work involved and a Cleaner engine bay too!!

That's my opinion.

You do not have to have the OMP bolted to the motor to have the ECU function. You attach it to the side of the fenderwell or someother area and hook the wiring harness to it. As long as it is a functioning OMP it will not go into limp mode.

well if i were to do both leading and trailing and go through a MSD box to individual seperate blaster square coils how would I do this??? Anyone do a writeup on it? It seems that the CAS would be the easiest way to run this. Also most of the MSD boxes I've been told cannot run with a rotary. Which box do I use? You'll have to forgive me I've never used MSD before.

I run an MSD 6AL with Direct Fire a la Paul Yaw's technique. It consists of 3 coils and one MSD 6AL. I'm not sure if Paul Yaw's way is the same as the other MSD setups; I've honestly never looked at any other setups. Considering I'm happy with the setup I have, I never took the time to research other direct fire set ups.

The leading plugs have their own coil. A third coil is connected to the dizzy and my trailing plugs are connected to the dizzy. So two coils for leading, one for trailing.

so ok scrap the trailing with a seperate 2nd MSD box. Anyone know which MSD ignition box has a RPM trigger? I want to turn on an air pump to open my 6 ports at a certain RPM...
