searched no help ignition from 2nd gen in 1st gen

ok I am sorry for all the questions, I dont know anything about first gens at even after being in a the archives for hours on end. And I have found out that you guys do the most interchangeablity Swaps I have ever seen.

OK my question this, can the ignition coils be swapped from an fc into an fb, and is there any performance gains from doing this. Thanks in advance

you can do a search on "2gcdfis". There are 3 important threads on this...

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/easy-2nd-gen-direct-fire-install-20-minutes-243350/
Describes how to run a 2nd gen coil with 1st gen ignitors. Supposedly it's smoother and has better throttle response. I am running this setup and there is no conclusive dyno proven power difference with this ignition over the stock system. My Dyno charts show 1hp increase across the whole rpm range, which is only a 1% variance, this is well within the margin for error.

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/transistor-trick-2gcdfis-411312/
Describes how to use the FC coil + ignitor, with a piggyback circuit to make spark. The FC coil expects a certain type of signal and the piggyback circuit converts the signal from our distributors into that "type of signal".

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/2gdfis-transistor-trick-installed-438878/
Describes some peoples experience with the above ognition system.

j-105 is the 79-80 ignitor, j-109 is the 81-85 ignitor.

ignitor are located on the side of our distributors.

yeah ok. Im sorry if i seam like a noob. Im just used to F.I. in my old fc. Thats where Im getting all the ignition components from. And I am not the smartest person in the world when it comes to electronics. I can do Little things but when I comes to swapping and cutting this wire off here on this thing that i dont know what it is. I really need some pics of the procedure that would help I checked the links you gave me and most of the pics were timed out.
