Is there a difference???....It looks different....

some of the later cars had internal cooling fan and different amperage ratings, but they all bolt and hook up to all cars, the 86-88 T2 has the highest amperage and bolts in.

yes mine have a tower that the 12a one dont have and have a fan inside the alternetor.

It depends on the year, 84-85 any model RX-7 had the greatest output in amps. It has a green band with no cooling fins outside. The older one on pre 84 models had cooling fins outside the alternator and put out a little less current. I believe that my 85 puts out about 55 amps, which is adequate.

adequate for you perhaps! if it's not 80 amps i don't want to hear about it. hey Maynard, if you are looking for alot of power get an 80 amp alt out of a 89-91 FC they go in with little modification and provied more that enough power for sound systems fog lights, anything you want!
