Is reversion a problem with the rotary like it is for a pison engine? I know that the best exaust that I can get for my CRX is from HyTech Exhaust. One of the key factors of why he produces so much better power is there isn't any reversion because of some trick parts in there.
Would something like this in the collector be worth it?
Here is a collector he sells that has it built in (4 to 1 collector)

What Subscription?
Dan, there is more testing planned in the future. I am in the process of setting the Dyno up in my shop.
We have a couple more tricks up our sleeves to test.....................
And yes, Larry Widmar makes a VERY Nice honda header, but what works extremely well in a piston engie does not neccasarily cross over to a rotary engine design.
Another point: The HYTECH headers are $800, I already hear:" Nice Header, but too much $$$". The point is, developing a product costs money, those costs have to be recouped in the cost of the product. I have to balnce product development costs versus number of products sold.
The ideal approach is to Dyno test and tune a whole exhaust system matched to YOUR particuliar engine; but how many enthusiasts have the $$$ for that?

I totaly agree. The end problem is Money. :P
Larry doesn't make the headers. He is a engine guy. HyTech makes the headers. They have been working together for a long time now. I am going to have Larry rework a z6 head and make pistons for the engine. (when I get money of course)
I think that 90% of the info can cross over from Piston exaust to Rotary exaust. The question is, what 90%.

I really don't want to start a ruccas about SDJ Motorsports. All i want to say is, I live about 5 minuts from Stan's shop. I know that he is currently working at the Mazda dealer in Charlotte N.C. . I don't want to air anyones dirty laundry, but I also know Stan is selling his shop in Mooresville for personal reasons. I don't know if he is going to reopen somewhere else or not. I haven,t talked to Stan since the summer when he went through the lsd in my '83. I hope he is still going to continue to be in the SCCA. Oh well, I guess I need to go to Charlotte one day and check up with him. I really miss going over to the shop and seeing new motors being broke in on the dyno. If any of ya'll have any updates, I would be glad to hear.

love the braaaap
Are the power gains really enough to justify a cost of about 4 times that of the RB header? If its only a 5HP gain at 200hp over the RB header, I would have to say not. What kinda percentage gain are we talking about here?

That may be true on a road course, but on the street, 5hp is pretty much nothing, and the difference in driving skill between two drivers can make up for this small varience making the guy that has the 5 extra hp actually slower than the other person. It all depends on skill.

First off, no one should be racing on the street!!!! And in road racing on a course..5 hp is a lot of power. Especially in a stock class, like SPEC7, IT7 or even Spec Miata.I know it doesnt mean anything on this forum but Ive raced Spec Miata and the cars are so even with 50 plus cars in the class, 5 hp makes a big difference. If I had 5 more horespower I could move up several positions easy. I wouldnt spend the extra bucks on a SDJ header for a street car, but I would for a race car, every little bit counts if he can drive the car! Just my $0.02

Alright ... for all the people out there woundering about money ... Going with the SDJ header, 2.5" SS straight pipe, plus Magnaflow muffler, plus installation by a exhaust guy will save me about 100$ then getting the RB streetport system and this is far more freeflowing then it. This only applys to the people considering buying the whole system which is the way it should be done and not just buying the header. I can list the exact prices of the item if anyone is really interested.

forgot to mention that the mufffler is also all SS. And that 100$ difference was without the installation fee of the RB so it would be a bit higher difference. So not only was it cheaper but my whole system now is stainless steel which will basically last me forever.
I hate the people that talk about things being more expensive when they don't really work things out.

we're just comparing prices right now ... everybody can spend money on anything else ... if your into the audio stuff that could pob get you a decent amp and couple 10" subs .... it could prob also get you springs or sturt ... interior decor ....

For the girls that keep on complaining about how much it is, whats the point? If you rather buy stereo crap or 1 part of a crappy exhuast system then do so, and show us that you have instead of buying a piece of performance.

just because you dont belive that something is what you would do doesnt mean you have to fight with him about it.... he has already disclosed to you his decision criteria, so i dont know what there is to argue about...

its more than just scrap metal welded together, thats pacesetter.. the SDJ is high quality metal welded together, and then tested, and rebuilt until the ultimate results. with minimal sacrifices. and your not only buying a header, your buying the dyno runs, inteligence of flow dynamics, and a very good understanding of the rotary motor. so i say that for the proper application, 425 is very very justifiable.
