Sabotage
About 5 months ago I lent a friend of a friend $40. This guy is the type who's too lazy to work, but he was dating the sister of the girl I was seeing blah blah blah.
Long story short I asked him to repay me a week ago and he became defensive. Two nights ago he was sitting in the passenger seat of a truck I've never seen before, with some guy I don't know as the driver, in front of my house when I arrived home. Neither acknowledged me as I went inside, and they drove off about 10 minutes later.
Yesterday my brakes were spongy. Low fluid in the reservoir. I topped it up and attributed it to an air bubble. Then during a panic stop I felt the pedal go to the floor. Complete loss of hydraulic pressure.
Today I examined my brakes closely.
Someone sawed through my right rear brakeline.
hmmmmm......

This is Canada. My pistols are in lockup at the range.
The police are on their way to fill out a report - turns out the guy spent last night in lockup for B&E, so they know who he is.

Who the **** does that over $40??? Who even does that period??? I can't even imagine what could be going through that dipshit's head.
Have your brake lines dusted for fingerprints! (can they do that?)
I'm glad you're alright... bring the full extent of the law to this ************.

Jesus that's absolutely insane! It's so ludicrous, if it were anyone but you, I'd think you were joking!
Is the guy a noted nut job?
...and how 'bout you?-
Didja instinctively grab for that e-brake? I always wonder if I would think to do that. I wonder often if just thinking about the scenerio is enough to put it into my head.
I'm shaking my head in disbelief!
Is there enough evidence to point to him, and if so, will you persue a conviction? - Or are you worried he's further out in space than everyone thinks?

I actually downshifted first, then thought of the e-brake just before I bumper-kissed the Ford Tortoise in front of me at a stoplight.
Right now they're saying it's circumstantial, but they will be questioning him about it before he goes on trial for the B&E

What pistols are you using? I am into 50m Olympic free pistol but keep in with rapid fire and revolver mainly using Toz and Hammerli.

Damn Manntis...Im sorry to hear about that. Im glad you're ok. I wonder why people do **** like that anyway...I mean, do they think that no one will notice? That they wont get caught? Is it just a joke to them? I just dont understand...I think that you need to persue this all the way to the end until they are caught. Even if it wasnt those guys, you need to know who it was. I hope that everything works out for the better. Good luck .

most of us here have probably wanted to do stuff when we get mad enough, but to actually go thru doing something that may get someone hurt or killed is insane, I hope you place a restraining order on this guy before he is able to do something again,,,,,that guy is nuts, dont YOU do anything that will get you in trouble, just let the law handle it, the guy will slip up again and be placed where he belongs,,,,but GET a restraining order,,,,,,,,,,

Holy **** dude. That sucks. I'm glad to hear that you're allright. I hope he goes down...
I have gone for the e-brake when I couldn't stop in time. Alls I gotta say is, if you do, be careful... I spun my Civic doing that... On the highway. Search the lounge.

just one of those cases where the guy is embarassed he didn't pay, embarassment turns to resentment towards the person who helped him, and he's a dumbass (barely 20 and hasn't matured to that age yet) who doesn't think of the consequences.
Fortunately for me I was driving in the city in fresh rain, so going slow when I discovered the problem. As I type this I'm awaiting a flatbed towtruck to take Pamela in and have her inspected and repaired.

Man, I've had my far share of run-ins with psychos, but that one pretty much takes the cake. I'm glad to hear you're no worse off for the experience, at least beyond the obvious financial and stress related strain.
Take care and watch your back man. Iditotic people often have even more idiotic friends. If he goes down, he will most likely twist the whole thing around to where in his mind it's all your fault. It sound like he's about halfway there already.

No kidding. I lent him money and waited 5 months to ask for it back, therefore I'm a bastard out to get him.

My brakes started to squeek a little a few weeks ago, so i figured it's time for new brake pads. I was gonna do it on my day off the following weekend. I was driving to a friends house when I went over a bump. Apparently, the inside pad on my front left brake assembly was so thin, that the bump was strong enough to dislodge the pad from the clips, and knock it out of the caliper. Following the bump was a fairly sharp right turn. I downshifted, and began to brake. Because that pad wasn't there, my caliper piston went right against the rotor and began to melt. It fused itsself to the rotor, and locked up my front left wheel, throwing me into the left lane. I quickly snagged the wheel and went back into my lane. I went back to my friends which, by now, was only a block or 2 away. Turning onto his road, I lost all pressure in my brake petal, and it went to the floor with just about as much resistance as my clutch has. Upon jacking my car up and examining the brake at my friends house, I discovered that when the caliper piston fully extended into the rotor, that it broke the surrounding seal, conveniently emptying out all of my brake fluid, and gimping my front brakes. 200 dollars, and new pads, rotors, and a front left caliper later, I now have fully functional brakes again.
Take manntis's advice. It really helps to downshift and e-brake if your petal brakes go out. Saved me.

that's downshift... let the engine slow the car... THEN ebrake.
Just ebraking will either (a) do next to nothing as your car is moving too fast for those itty bitty park brake drums to do much but smoke like crazy, or (b) snap your back end around and you've gone from being able to control your steering but not your velocity, to being a spectator on a spinning ride from hell.
