S5 N/A into 85 GS
Just to clarify...I know I can use the 12 pan and front cover...but elsewhere it has been said you can use the stock S% mount, weld ears onto it, and away you go...
Can you do this? Has anyone done it? Do you have pictures? Does it look like a garage monkey went wild with the ghetto fab?

I do have the 12a front cover, but not the GSL-SE pan. So as long it would be easier/cheaper for me to just modify/weld the stock S5 mount. I just wanted to see if anyone had some photos or experience they'd like to share so I can see what I'm getting into.

S5 is a different game when it comes to mounting.
You CANNOT use the stock 2nd gen motormounts on the sides of the engine, unless you do an entire 2nd gen front subframe swap. The 2nd gen mounts and oilpan will not clear the 1st gen steering or crossmember.
To install any 13B engine, you must use a GSL-SE oilpan.
Typically,if you are gonna use a carb,or premix oil, then a 12A front cover and standard 1st gen style engine mounts will work fine.If you are going to install GSL-SE or 86-88 FC fuel injection, then you must use a GSL-SE front cover so that the 4 hose OMP will bolt up and work correctly as the factory intended. No biggie, its still all just a bolt together affair.
When you get into the S5 engines, there is more electronic controls on the engine. Most notably, the electric OMP,which CANNOT be removed from the system when using stock S5 EFI.It will not bolt up to the GSL-SE or 12A front cover without modifying the cover.....its not hard, but its critical that its done right so the OMP is secure and doesnt leak.I went full out and had the OMP pad enlarged via Heli-arc welding to build it up,then machined the surface flat and drilled/tapped the 3 new holes.Others have simply drilled out new holes and made due with the smaller mounting area. You have to research the work involved and decide for yourself how to proceed. Its been covered a million times on this forum, all you have to do is search for S5 swap info......
