Rx7 starter problem

Ok Im far from a mechanic but ive been working onmy car for 3 yrs now so im not new either. Big question: My 79 Rx7 with a 84 eninge is having a starter problem. If i try to start it and it doesnt catch the engine will continue to turn over until the battry die or I disconnect it What could cause this? I tested it outside of the car and it worked fine but when i put it back in it started doing it again. This is a new starter with less than 50 starts on it.

Also my car has been upgarded to electrical ignition should there be a wire between the two coils (trailing and leading)?

Am I reading that right, the starter continues to turn over?

Sounds like you got the wires crossed when you put it back in.

Yes you read it right it just keeps turning over and there is only 2 wires to the starter the battery cable and the ignition cable and they both attach differently

If it is hooked up correctly then I agree. Just because you bought it new doesn't mean that it works.

If The Starter Turns The Motor Than It Isnt A Starter Problem.... Does The Starter Actually Turn The Motor Or Not......if So Then It Should Be Fuel Or Spark....same Thing Happened To Me The Other Day I Checked My Spark Plugs And They Were Fouled....
