Which Rx carbys are interchangeable
I have to change my carby, and i would like to know what carbys go on to what engines. I dont know what my engine is from. Its a 13b. Are all 13b carbys interchangeable.

Uhh 13b's are usually fuel injected. If you do happen to have one that is carbureted then it depends on what manifold you have and we'd need to know whats on there now.

If you have a GSL-SE (which has to be from '84-85 and is found by either the big "GSL-SE" badge on the back or the distinct lack of a blue air filter canister in the engine bay) then you don't have a carb and thus you should be looking to fix/tweak your FI system... or you're looking at quite some work to get your car carbed!
The reason I mention this is because the GSL-SE is the ONLY Rx7 between 1979-1985 (first generation) to have a 13b engine! So if you DO have the blue air filter canister in your engine bay, or you have another badge (or no badge) on your car, or it's made from 79-83, then you have a 12a engine.
The carb on all of the carbureted 1st gens is the 4 barrel Nikki. Rx7Carl and Sterling are our resident experts on the carb. As far as I know, all of the carbs from the first generation, as well as the nikkis from the older Rx3-4 models (which had 13b engines) are interchangable, with very little work. In some cases, you might have to cap the vacuum sources for various emissions devices if you're putting an older carb on a newer car. The later the year of the car, the more emissions CRAP your carb had built into/onto it, and so your car's vacuum system (ie: the "rat's nest") was built accordingly. Vacuum leaks suck, so be sure to plug any unused sources.
If you're having carb problems, sending your carb to Rx7Carl for a rebuild is a great way to get your carb working in tip-top shape again. If you don't have emissions in your area, the tutorial that Rx7Carl and Pratch made on getting rid of the rat's nest helps eliminate sources for vacuum leaks, and when you have your carb rebuilt, you can have the emissions stuff removed from it and capped to make the system simpler. Also, for a bit extra, Carl and Sterling can make your carb flow a hell of a lot more air and fuel than it normally would = more power.
From what I've heard, there is no specific carb among the stock carbs that flows more than the others... from the Rx3-4 carbs to the 84-85 emissions-ridden ones, so don't swap one carb for another for "performance" reasons.
